History and Location
The BayArena, formerly known as the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion until 1998, is a football stadium located in the Küppersteg district of Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Constructed between 1956 and 1958, the stadium has been the home ground of Bayer 04 Leverkusen since its inception.
Origins and Development
The history of the stadium dates back to 1907 when it was initially called the "Platz an der Dhünn" or "Dhünn-Platz." Later, it was renamed the "Stadion am Stadtpark." In 1956, Bayer 04 Leverkusen purchased the stadium and began extensive renovations, including the construction of a new grandstand and the installation of floodlights.
