ATP Córdoba: Munar Stuns Top Seed Cerúndolo for First Top-30 Win in Almost a Year
Munar upsets Cerúndolo in Córdoba
Jaume Munar has recorded a significant victory on Tuesday at the ATP Córdoba Open, defeating top seed and home favorite Francisco Cerúndolo in three sets 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3.
The win marks Munar's first victory over a top-30 opponent in nearly a year, with his last such triumph coming against Marin Cilic at the 2023 Australian Open.
Cerúndolo struggles under pressure
Cerúndolo, ranked 19th in the world, had a disappointing performance, struggling to find his rhythm throughout the match. Munar, ranked 69th, took advantage of Cerúndolo's unforced errors and capitalized on his opportunities to break serve.
Munar broke Cerúndolo's serve three times in the opening set and twice in the deciding set to secure the win. Cerúndolo managed to break Munar's serve once in the second set but failed to convert a set point in the tiebreaker.
